Gracie Temecula South celebrates opening with black belt

GMA member Ricardo Guimarães has some great news from his school.

He has just graduated a new black belt for his Gracie Temecula Team.

With the presence of master Royler Gracie, Guimarães gave the new belt to Marco Gonzalez.

The ceremony also celebrated the opening of Gracie Temecula South, Guimarães’ newest school.

The new location adds to Gracie Hemet and Gracie Temecula, also run by Ricardo.

GMA present in Carslile and Nashville

The GMA network grows without barriers.

Now we have added two Gracie Barra Schools in two different US states.

In Pennsylvannia, our new base is the city of Carslile.

In Tennessee, we welcome you to the world famous Nashville.

Both schools have one thing in common.

They work under the technical direction of 2nd degree black belt Marcelo Ribeiro.

Coupe Suisse No-Gi a hit

GMA member Anderson Pereira, from Geneve, put on a great competition recently in Switzerland.

The Coupe Suisse No-Gi gathered 200 athletes in Geneve.

Another GMA member played the role of referee director.

Servio Vita flew from Portugal to give a hand.

Here are the results of the Teams competition:

1 – Icon Jiu Jitsu Team – 90 pts
2 – BJJ Lausanne – 21 pts
3 – Alliance – 19 pts

Ellwanger teaches Biloxi police

Another law enforcement organization started to enjoy the benefits of training Jiu-Jitsu’s self-defense techniques.
GMA member Rafael Ellwanger, of Gracie Barra Northshore, in Louisiana, just started a training program with the Biloxi Police Academy, in Mississippi.
The first session happened recently, as Ellwanger tells us:
“We schedule a training session with the Biloxi-MS Police Academy to train the cadet. It was a free class to help them in the hand to hand combat. The class was taught by Coach Jim Davis from Gracie Barra Wiggins”.

Alan “Finfou” visits Ases JJ

GMA member Ezekiel Zayas welcomed recently black belt Alan “Finfou” Nascimento for a special seminar in Valencia, Spain.

Finfou spent a whole week at Ases JJ.

Zayas, also a black belt, talked about the experience:

“We had two sessions a day and Finfou showed a lot of positions and variations. It was very interesting, once he not just showed the technique, but also explained the reason why he was using it. We are learning a lot from his technique and also his humble way of being and teaching”.

Northwest Submission Challenge now a GMA

The usual GMA members are BJJ academies.

This time, however, we have joined a grappling event.

The Northwest Submission Challenge is the largest event of its kind in the state of Idaho.

The next installment is scheduled November 5th.

Estima seminar at Carriello a hit

GMA member Eduardo Carriello hosted a very special seminar last June 12th.

He welcomed fellow GMA member Braulio Estima for a Gi class at his Gracie Barra London Bridge.

Three times World champion and the current ADCC absolute and -88kg divisions winner, Estima had a full class to teach his always impressive techniques.

Purebred Guam learns with Frazatto

Black belt Bruno Frazatto, of Team Atos JJ, just ended a week of seminar at GMA school Purebred Guam.

Member Stephen Roberto invited the Brazilian for seven days of teaching right after the 2011 Worlds.

As we can read on Facebook, Bruno had a great time at the Pacific island.

Here what he had to say about his experience: “Guys, I just want to say that you are amazing! Thank you all. I miss Guam, had a great time.
Thank God for the opportunities. I love my job. BJJ life style!”

Gordinho seminar at Gracie Oceania

After a succesful trip in 2010, Rafael ‘Gordinho’ Correa will again visit GMA member school Gracie Oceania (Ryan Gracie team) in Sydney to teach two exclusive seminars.

For the first time in Australia, Gordinho will also be coaching a class for children aged 4-13 years – a sign Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is gaining popularity ‘down under’.

Multiple world champion and 4th degree black belt, Gordinho will also enjoy training and teaching alongside Gracie Oceania resident coaches Marco ‘Gigante’ Villela and Mario Sergio Yokoyama during his week-long stay.

The head of Singapore’s premier MMA facilty – Evolve MMA – Gordinho will return to Singapore following his visit with Gracie Oceania students Julian Alva and Laura Jayne Ng who will train intensively at Evolve for 2 weeks.
